Chinese solar company trading in the US announces an agreement with China's largest state-owned renewable energy company to build solar power plants. According to the agreement, this state investment fund will acquire the solar power plant once completed. The Chinese government must allow companies like this to profit from building power plants in order to encourage investment. The Chairman of China's State Electricity Corporation estimates 20% of China's demand for energy will be from renewable sources by 2020; today it's only 1%. (PRWeb May 28, 2010)

In the drive for more cost-effective solar energy, technology leaders Oerlikon Solar and DuPont have collaborated on a new thin white reflective solar PV encapsulant sheet, called DuPont™ PV5223 (http://www2.dupont.com/Photovoltaics/en_US/products_services/?src=Vocus_PV5223PR_2010). This latest addition to the DuPont™ PV5200 Series of PVB sheets enables easier manufacturing of next-generation thin film PV modules that not only capture sunlight coming in, but also reflect more sunlight back through the module's active layer, thus capturing an extra zap from every available ray of light. GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on Solar Panels market. The worldwide installed capacity for solar panels is projected to exceed 33.4 thousand megawatts by the year 2015. This is primarily driven by the urgent need for an alternative source of energy that is renewable, abundant and at the same time eco-friendly. Perception regarding solar energy is undergoing a sea change, gradually shedding its image as an alternate source of energy, thereby underpinning the technology's strong penetration in both urban and rural communities alike.
