Tallahassee City Commissioner Gil Ziffer toured the Danfoss Turbocor facility in Tallahassee today to discuss the company's innovative, energy-saving technology. Ziffer met with Danfoss Turbocor executives to learn more about the company’s advanced compressor technology, which makes air conditioning equipment more efficient, significantly reduces energy consumption and has created upwards of 150 green-tech jobs at DTC and approximately another 150 jobs at network suppliers. A student-backed sustainability initiative has made the Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver the top Colorado college campus purchasing renewable energy as ranked by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership. Boulder, CO-based Renewable Choice Energy is providing the Auraria Campus with approximately 40 million kilowatt hours per year of nationally sourced renewable energy credits (RECs) from wind farms over the next three years. The grant brings the total amount that the company has received from NSF to $847,000. The current grant will be used to expand the company’s technical options to reduce harmful exhaust from fuel burning engines. MemPro has patented catalyst technology that provides low cost pollution control to fuel burning engines of all sizes. In 2008 the company received $500,000 from NSF to develop its NOXFOX™ brand of catalytic filters to meet 2011/2012 EPA small SI (spark-ignition) standards.
