Clipper Windpower, Inc., and its subsidiary, Clipper Windpower Development Company, collectively (“Clipper”), today announced the sale of 70 megawatts (MW) of its Liberty 2.5 MW wind turbines and its Maryland-based Criterion project development to Constellation Holdings, Inc.(“Constellation”), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy, Inc. a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Maryland. Clipper Windpower today announced that the first Clipper Liberty wind turbines to be installed internationally have been backed by an $80.66 million project financing loan by the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank). The transaction also marks Ex-Im Bank’s first project financing for wind power. The project owner is Electrica del Valle de Mexico, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles (“EDF EN”). Thanks to President Obama's stimulus package earlier this year, Americans can get a tax credit that is bigger than the 'Cash for Clunkers' or 'First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit' programs. It's a tax credit for almost $6500 towards an electric vehicle – so the car is essentially free after rebate. To qualify the car can be purchased online up until December 31st 2009.
